Dr. David Tabaroki: Building Surgical Excellence in New York

Dr. David Tabaroki did not follow an easy path. His career reflects discipline, long-term focus, and steady execution. Today, he is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon based in Forest Hills, New York, and the owner of three practices. But his story starts much earlier, and much farther away.

His rise was shaped by education, training, and a clear view of what it takes to build something that lasts.

From Tehran to New York: Early Foundations

Dr. Tabaroki was born in Tehran, Iran. At age 12, he immigrated to New York with his family. The transition was not simple. New language. New culture. New expectations.

“I learned early that effort mattered more than comfort,” he says. “You adjust, or you fall behind.”

That mindset stayed with him through school. He earned a full scholarship to Yeshiva University. He later attended New York University on a full scholarship as well. At NYU, he graduated in the top 5 percent of his class and earned honors and Dean’s List recognition.

“I treated school like a job,” he says. “You show up prepared every day.”

Advanced Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

After dental school, Dr. Tabaroki entered a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Montefiore University Hospital. The program is considered one of the strongest in the country.

Residency was demanding. Long hours. High standards. Constant pressure.

“That training teaches you how to think under stress,” he says. “You learn how to make decisions when there is no margin for error.”

The experience shaped how he approaches surgery and leadership. Precision. Preparation. Accountability.

Opening Queens Blvd Oral Surgery

Twenty years ago, Dr. Tabaroki opened Queens Blvd Oral Surgery. At the time, he focused on one thing: delivering consistent surgical care.

“I wasn’t thinking about growth,” he says. “I was thinking about doing the work the right way.”

Early years were hands-on. He managed patients, staff, and operations himself. Over time, the practice built a reputation through outcomes and referrals.

That foundation allowed expansion later without changing standards.

Growing a Multi-Practice Operation

Today, Dr. Tabaroki owns and operates three practices. Queens Blvd Oral Surgery. Jamaica Estates Oral Surgery. Gramercy Dental Group.

Each location follows the same core structure. Clear processes. Skilled teams. Focused care.

“Systems matter,” he says. “They protect quality as you grow.”

He remains involved in clinical decision-making while overseeing operations. That balance is intentional.

“You cannot lead a medical business from spreadsheets alone,” he explains. “You need to stay close to patients and staff.”

Leadership in a Technical Field

Oral and maxillofacial surgery blends medicine, dentistry, and technology. Dr. Tabaroki stays current by treating learning as ongoing work.

“Medicine does not stand still,” he says. “If you do, you fall behind.”

He is open to new tools and techniques but cautious about trends. Adoption follows evidence and training, not marketing.

Technology supports outcomes. It does not replace judgment.

Building Trust Over Time

Dr. Tabaroki believes trust is built slowly. Through consistency. Through follow-through.

“Patients remember how you treat them when they are anxious,” he says. “That matters more than anything else.”

He applies the same principle internally. Clear expectations. Direct communication. Respect for time and effort.

Leadership, in his view, is operational. Not theoretical.

Life Outside the Practice

Dr. Tabaroki lives on Long Island with his wife and five children. Family life keeps perspective.

“My schedule is demanding,” he says. “But family keeps you grounded.”

Outside of work, he follows New York sports closely. The Giants. The Knicks. The Yankees.

Sports, he says, reinforce lessons about preparation and resilience.

“You don’t win every game,” he says. “You focus on the process.”

A Career Built on Discipline

Dr. David Tabaroki’s career reflects long-term thinking. From immigration to education to surgical practice ownership, each step was built carefully.

There was no shortcut. No single turning point. Just steady work.

“Consistency compounds,” he says. “People underestimate that.”

His story shows how technical skill, structured thinking, and patience can shape a lasting career in healthcare. Not through promotion. Through execution.
