Significant leadership changes are on the horizon at Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line), one of the world’s largest shipping companies.
The Tokyo-based firm announced that following a shareholder vote in March, Takenori Igarashi is set to assume the role of president and CEO, succeeding Yukikazu Myochin, who will transition to chairman.
Myochin, who has led K Line since 2019, will pass the reins to Igarashi, a company veteran who has been with the organization since 1991. In line with Japanese corporate tradition, the chairman role is often more symbolic, typically marking the final stage of an executive’s career after serving as CEO.
