Megan Habina: Building Valkyrie Fitness & Nutrition from the Ground Up

Megan Habina

A Mission Born from Experience

Megan Habina’s story isn’t just about fitness—it’s about grit. Before founding Valkyrie Fitness & Nutrition, Megan built her strength in more ways than one. She worked as a Class I and Class II officer for the Vineland Police Department and served in the Army National Guard. Those early years taught her the importance of discipline, resilience, and teamwork.

“I was the highest-performing soldier in my unit,” Megan recalls. “I maxed out my physical fitness scores year after year. But more than that, I learned how to help others get there too.”

That drive laid the foundation for her business. Today, Megan leads Valkyrie Fitness & Nutrition, a company helping women in first responder, military, and healthcare professions create sustainable health routines. Her work bridges a gap—between long shifts, high stress, and the need for strength both physically and mentally.

From Vineland Roots to Entrepreneurial Growth

Megan grew up in Vineland, New Jersey, surrounded by the energy of hard work and family. She spent her teenage years helping at her grandmother’s restaurant, Johnnie’s in Mays Landing. “Working in the family business taught me early what responsibility looks like,” she says. “You show up. You help people. You don’t quit.”

After high school at Sacred Heart, where she was crowned prom queen in 2010, Megan pursued law enforcement. She attended the Class II Academy at Gloucester County College, graduating as class leader. She went on to earn an Associate’s from Cumberland County College and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University.

But as her professional life developed, so did another passion—fitness. “Fitness was always my outlet,” she explains. “It kept me focused and grounded, especially when I worked 12-hour shifts.”

The Birth of Valkyrie

When Megan founded Valkyrie Fitness & Nutrition, it wasn’t from a corporate plan. It was from lived experience. She knew firsthand the challenges women face when balancing demanding careers with personal health.

“I created ways to make it easy for people working long shifts to see results,” she says. “You don’t need a big-box gym to be fit—you just need a system that fits your life.”

That’s where Valkyrie found its edge. The business specializes in strength training, mobility, weight management, and body transformation—but its real power comes from understanding the lifestyle of its clients.

“Fitness isn’t one-size-fits-all,” Megan says. “It’s about finding simple solutions that work for you.”

Lessons in Leadership

Like many entrepreneurs, Megan’s journey wasn’t without setbacks. “I had to overcome a lot,” she says. “I worked in male-dominated fields and had to prove myself over and over. But pushing harder showed me how strong I really was.”

Her leadership philosophy is grounded in persistence and humility. “I think success comes from failing often,” she explains. “Most people think it’s luck, but it’s really about trying a hundred times and not quitting.”

That mindset carried over into her company culture. She encourages clients and team members to write down goals, track progress, and build accountability. “If you don’t write down your goals, you’re more likely never to achieve them,” she says.

Continuous Growth and Mentorship

Megan’s learning didn’t stop once she became a CEO. “I always look for other groups or coaching programs to join,” she shares. “I’ve spent over $150,000 on personal development, and it’s been a game changer.”

Mentorship plays a big role in her growth. “I learned a lot from mentors who had achieved what I wanted,” she says. “They helped me stay focused when things got tough.”

Her favorite advice to clients comes from her own reflection: “I ask myself, ‘What would the version of me who already accomplished this goal do?’ Then I act that way.”

Life Beyond the Gym

Outside of business, Megan lives life at full speed. She loves riding motorcycles, snowboarding across the country, and exploring new places with her wife, a travel nurse. The couple travels full-time in their fifth wheel RV—a lifestyle that mirrors Megan’s belief in freedom, flexibility, and staying active.

“It’s easy to get caught up in work,” she admits. “But it’s important to remember what it’s all for. I try to slow down and appreciate what I’ve built for myself and my team.”

Leading the Next Generation of Women in Fitness

Megan’s work extends beyond training and nutrition. She’s part of a larger movement to empower women in high-stress, high-performance professions.
