Ali Monzer Named CEO of MTN South Sudan

In a strategic move, MTN Group has announced the appointment of Ali Monzer as the incoming Chief Executive Officer of MTN South Sudan, effective from 1st April 2024. Monzer steps into this pivotal role, succeeding Gordian Kyomukama, who retires after a distinguished career with MTN.
With an impressive background spanning over 23 years in the telecommunications industry, Ali Monzer brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position. His journey within MTN, which began in 2004, has seen him ascend to progressively senior roles, culminating in his recent tenure as Chief Technology and Information Officer of MTN Uganda. Throughout his career, Monzer has demonstrated a knack for operational efficiency, cost optimization, market expansion, and elevating customer experiences. His academic credentials include a master’s degree in computer communication engineering, complemented by relevant industry certifications.
Ralph Mupita, President and CEO of MTN Group, expressed satisfaction with Monzer’s appointment, stating that he was pleased to have Ali spearheading their operations in South Sudan. Mupita added that Monzer’s extensive experience and proven track record in technology and operations positioned him well for the role. Acknowledging Gordian Kyomukama’s invaluable contributions to the company, Mupita extended his sincere gratitude, noting Kyomukama’s vigor, determination, and exemplary work ethic throughout his tenure.
