Report: CEO approval rating index, 2023

Tim Cook

CEOWORLD magazine’s 2023 CEO approval rating index showed Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, receiving the greatest approval. Almost all of the surveyed professionals (95.29 percent) expressed approval of Cook’s performance as CEO. Apart from Cook, other CEOs highly regarded in the CEO approval rating index are Nikesh Arora (No.2; 95.09 percent approval rating) of Palo Alto Networks; Shantanu Narayen (No.3; 94.26 percent approval rating) of Adobe; Microsoft’s Satya Nadella (No.4; 94.16 percent approval rating); and Arvind Krishna (No.5; 94.15 percent approval rating) of IBM.

The stock performance of some companies has likely improved the approval ratings of their chief executives. Those CEOs with the highest approval ranks have, despite the economic challenges posed by increasing interest rates, inflation that continues, a decrease in investor money, and more, guided their firms to higher worth in 2023.

According to the CEOWORLD magazine survey, conducted in August 2023 and involving 680,000 verified professionals (with a minimum of 2,500 responses for each company), the most popular chief executives in the world are those from the banking, financial services, and tech industries. The survey participants were asked to answer a simple question: “Do you approve or disapprove of the way the CEO is handling their job?”

Employee approval of a chief executive may be largely determined by how secure they feel in their job.
