Most desirable destinations for American travelers, 2025

Cancún, Mexico

Cancún, Mexico, has been recognized as a highly desirable destination for American travelers, according to CEOWORLD magazine. In the CEOWORLD Travel Awards 2025, based on insights from magazine readers, Paris was ranked as the second-best destination for U.S. travelers, closely followed by Rome, Bali, and St. Lucia.

The report indicates that American travelers are increasingly looking abroad for major cities and relaxing beach vacations, with 51% citing relaxation and rejuvenation as their primary reason for travel. Notably, four out of the top ten U.S. travel destinations are in the Caribbean. Cancún, situated in southeast Mexico, is a prominent tourist hotspot known for its white sandy beaches and cultural landmarks, including the underwater art museum near Isla Mujeres. The city is also close to popular Mexican destinations such as Tulum and Playa del Carmen.

This recognition is based on feedback from approximately 120,000 readers who shared their travel destination preferences. In the European category, Paris secured the top spot in this year’s rankings, highlighting the most desirable global destinations for American travelers.
