The future of media sounds like exponential technologies

Exponential technologies will wipe out the art of writing, blogs and papers, and the entire journalism profession, as we will have AI agents, somewhere in the physical and digital realm, catering ultra-personalized stories to us, according to our interests, story, background and economic interests. The tech skeptics always say that books were never canceled with the advent of online, which at some point reached a plateau in terms of content consumption. Did it really stop? Isn’t Tik Tok or Only Fans another clear demonstration of the way we dramatically changed the way we consume content and entertain ourselves? What are exponential technologies doing to media and journalism?
This is why we sit down with Amelia Tomasicchio, Co-Founder and Editor in chief at The Cryptonomist and Econique, besides being an advisor, a consultant and an author, all of it despite her young age. If someone with a New Gen label becomes a journalist, something must still be cooking. This is our exchange.
Tell us a bit about your story, and what you are doing now.
I started my career in marketing and journalism, then shifted into crypto in 2014, when I realized how transformative blockchain could be for the world of money. I loved the idea of a total decentralized currency. Today, I run Cryptonomist.ch, focusing on bridging high-quality information and real industry insight for a global audience.
Give us some facts and numbers about The Cryptonomist. Is it a success?
I’m very proud of where we stand today: roughly 500k monthly visits worldwide, a truly global yet deeply informed crypto-native audience, and a clear editorial mission of providing trustworthy, high-quality coverage of blockchain and Web3. We started with Italian language only, but now we are translated in 15 languages and the Italian traffic is not the majority, so we are truly international.
Where do you want to take this, in the era of AI, which is full of risks for you?
I want us to become the go-to media brand not just for crypto news, but for deep analysis, regulation insight, and Web3 education. We’ll diversify our business model — through premium reports, membership, and events — while continuing to drive innovation via The Cryptonomist, and stronger engagement with both the crypto community and regulators. Ultimately, our goal is to combine credibility, reach, and impact to help shape the future of the crypto journalism.
What’s the future of Blockchain in your opinion?
Blockchain will become increasingly invisible but foundational — integrated into finance, supply chains, identity, and digital ownership. We’ll stop talking about blockchain itself and focus on what it enables: trust, transparency, and asset mobility on a global scale.
What’s the future of AI?
AI will augment human creativity and productivity rather than replace it entirely. The biggest shift will be how we interact with information — AI will become our personal interface to knowledge, decisions, and digital systems.
Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future?
Cautiously optimistic. Innovation always brings challenges, but I believe technology, when paired with responsibility and education, can empower people more than it harms them.
Amelia found her niche, and she is using all the blockchain and AI needed to engage a homogenous and cohesive audience. Her work is just another channel to create a community of lovers, more than the tool to reach likes and clicks. If used for the right vision, exponential technologies augment and enhance a dream. If treated like dumb tools, they return the favor. Media, journalists and stories will still be there in the future. Good ones will stick out. And, yes, chances are they will be helped by tech.
