Vitalij, you have extensive experience in UX/UI design. How did you enter this profession, and what inspires you in digital product design? 

My journey into UX/UI design started with my education in advertising and business management, followed by further studies in economics. This background helped me understand how design can impact business processes. I have always been passionate about how technology can improve people’s lives, and that is what inspires me in my work. Design is not just about aesthetics; it is also about functionality. I strive to create products that make user interactions with technology more intuitive and enjoyable.

You have worked in various companies such as Orion Innovation and Ovoko. Which project has been the most significant for you, and why? 

Every project brings its unique challenges and opportunities, but perhaps the most significant for me was the project with Mitigrate. It is a SaaS software designed to mitigate the effects of flooding for property owners and insurers. Creating such a product from scratch, one that can genuinely help people, was an incredibly inspiring experience.

Our work on the Mitigrate SaaS System began with an in-depth analysis of our target audience’s needs. We conducted numerous interviews with property owners, insurers, and risk management experts to understand what features and tools would be most beneficial. This research provided us with a clear picture of how users interact with flood risk information and what solutions they need to manage their assets effectively.

One of the main challenges in this project was designing an intuitive interface that could handle vast amounts of data. Users, especially those without a technical background, needed to navigate the system easily and access essential information without complications. Therefore, we paid special attention to UX principles to create simple and clear navigation flows.

We also introduced new features—automated flood risk alerts, integration with meteorological data, and analytical tools—allowing users to make more informed decisions. Thanks to this, users could not only receive real-time risk updates but also predict potential consequences, ultimately helping them avoid financial losses.

Developing Mitigrate was not just a project for me; it was a real contribution to society. I am proud that we created a solution that helps people protect their homes and businesses from the devastating effects of flooding. This experience not only enhanced my professional skills but also reinforced my belief that design can and should serve an important social purpose.

How do you see the future of digital product design? What trends do you think will shape this field in the coming years? 

I believe the future of digital product design will focus on personalization and adaptability. Each year, users expect a more individualized experience. Artificial intelligence and machine learning will play a major role in this process, enabling interfaces to adjust to user preferences and behavior.

Additionally, accessibility will be a key aspect—design must be inclusive and available to everyone, regardless of their physical abilities.

You mentioned personalization. What tools and technologies do you think will help designers implement this trend? 

To implement personalization in design, we need advanced analytics tools and data collection platforms. For instance, using A/B testing and user behavior analysis can help understand which interface elements are most effective. It is also essential to integrate APIs and other technologies that collect and process data in real-time. This will allow designers to tailor interfaces to specific user groups.

Your work covers various aspects of design, including product management and QA. How important do you think it is for designers to have knowledge in these areas? 

I believe that understanding related fields such as project management and QA is essential for designers. It helps them better understand how teams work, what processes exist, and how to optimize collaboration. For example, my experience as a Scrum Master at Nasdaq taught me the importance of communication and teamwork. This knowledge allows me to work more effectively with developers and other project stakeholders, ultimately leading to the creation of higher-quality products.

Vitalij, you participated as a judge at the Global Luminary Awards 2025. How did this influence your perspective on the future of digital product design? 

Being part of the judging panel at GLA gave me a unique opportunity to see a wide range of innovative approaches and solutions in design. It inspired me to think about how technology and user experience will evolve in the future. I noticed that many participants are focused on creating intuitive interfaces and functional solutions, which, as I mentioned earlier, will be the key direction in digital product design.

What aspects did you consider when evaluating the contestants’ projects, and what did you gain from this experience? 

When evaluating projects, I focused on creativity, functionality, and how well they met user needs. These elements not only define the quality of current projects but also set the tone for the future of design. I am convinced that emphasizing user experience and adaptability to new technologies will be fundamental in developing digital products in the coming years.

Engaging with contestants and fellow judges broadened my perspective on the future of design. I saw how essential it is to consider diverse ideas and approaches to create truly innovative solutions. This also confirms that interdisciplinary methods will become a priority in design.

In the context of these ongoing changes, how do you see your role as a judge at the Global Luminary Awards 2025? 

My role as a judge was not just to evaluate the projects but also to inspire and support young designers. I believe that my expertise can help shape new standards and approaches in design. The future of digital products requires us not only to have technical skills but also to think beyond traditional boundaries, and I believe my contribution to the award process will help foster that evolution.

What advice would you give to young designers starting their careers in UX/UI? 

First and foremost, do not be afraid to experiment and try new approaches. Every project is an opportunity to learn and grow. Also, be open to feedback—it will help you improve your skills. Networking is crucial: connecting with colleagues and industry professionals can open up new opportunities. And, of course, never stop learning—the design world is constantly evolving, and staying updated on the latest trends and technologies is essential.
